Line Rider

In this section of the blog, I will be focussing Line Rider, and how effective this method of animation is. This research will cover not only the theory side of Line Rider, but the practical use aswell.

The following questions should be answered in this section:-

1) An overview of your animation software
2) What you are going to use the software for
3) A PMI (positive, minus, interesting)
4) How to use the program (basic tutorial)
5) What type of animation the software is
6) An example of the software (embedded into your blog)
7) A short evaluation of the software based on your experience.

Overview of Line Rider

Line rider is central to human creativity and ingenious designing; people have the ability to create a track which will be the path for which a sled or bike will pass. This allows people to create random maps for which vehicles can venture through, which is a lot of fun. There are a few design options that you can choose from when designing the track; you can adjust the straightness of the path, the smoothness of the track (ie. whether there will be any bumps or hills), aswell as the angle of the path, which will ultimately change the height of the vehicle's jump.

What am I going to use Line Rider for

Line Rider is one of many programs that I will be testing. I will set my self another design brief, which will allow me to test this programme. This is the website I will be using

Positive, Minus and Interesting

Positive

The program is free and easy to use, especially because you can pause and adjust your track, which makes it easy to create an 'auto' track.

Minus
Apart from the different angles and lengths of the lines for the track; there is not much adjusting to do in order to make the track adventurous.

Interesting

The line rider is an easy way to produce a great animation which can be embedded into my blog.

How to use the Programme
There are a few options when creating a track; there is the:-
1. Drawing tool
2. Rubbing out tool
3. Curved lines tool
4. Slow motion tool
5. Pause/Play option in order to create an 'Auto Track'

Here is an example of a new track

What type of animation is Line Rider
Line Rider is a CGI animation. Computer Generated Imagery, or CGI is the art of creating moving pictures with the help of computers and can apply to 2-D or 3-D imagery, although most commonly is used in reference with 3-D.

Evaluation of the software used

Overall I am happy with the level of knowledge I have gained about line rider and hope to use this acquired skill in other projects or for a leisure. Although this CGI animation is basic and easy to make, it can create varied, yet fun results. However, I will not be using this software for my main project as it does not offer a more diverse range of features that I was looking for.
