Problem

Two class Design Brief examples

Class Design Brief (e.g. No. 1)

I have been employed by ABC3 to create a short animation to promote their upcoming new children's program called "Oscar the Dog". The program is targeted at 6 to 12 year olds. It must be longer than 30 seconds, but no longer than 2 minutes. It must be age appropriate and have no violence or inappropriate content. I have been asked to create the animation using Adobe Flash.

Class Design Brief (e.g. No. 2)

The world has recently been invaded by an army of aliens. They appear friendly when you first meet them, but unfortunately when they get close, they wrap you up in sticky tape and take you aboard their space ship. It is assumed that they are intending on taking humans back to their planet to be experimented on. Other say they are intending on eating humans. At this point we don't exactly know. As a result, you have decided to put together a animation that will be used to warn people about the dangers of the aliens. You have limited animation experience, but have decided to use Adobe Flash as you have a copy of it on your computer and it can be emailed and uploaded to the internet quickly as it creates a small file size. You have decided to make the animation no longer than 2 minutes and also not violent as you are wanting to use it to warn children also.

Two of my own Design Brief Situations

Design Brief (No.1)

Coca Cola are creating a contest to see which person can make the best advertisement based off their new creation, 'Coke Max.' The clip should be no longer than 2 minutes and should emphasise the great taste of their new flavour. The advertisement should be targeted to teenage/adolescent audiences, as it is proven that this generation drink and enjoy Coke the most. The clip should be presented in the format of a flip-book.

Design Brief (No.2)

The popular television series, 'Family Guy,' is hosting a competition to see the best short skit created which runs for 5 minutes; which will be featured in their first episode of the new season and the company's anniversary, which will include Brian creating a cake and giving it to his family. The scene should be humorous and can focus on any character from the family. The clip should be centred on the teenagers and targeted to their style of humour, as they are the one's who watch the show the most. This should be presented in the form of Stop motion.

My final design brief

Lego® has asked me to design an animation about the Harry Potter lego, their new creation. They want the video to be a stop-motion, no less than 30 seconds and no more than 2 minutes. The producers want the video to be targeted toward the teenagers (12-15) and should encapsulate the action and adventurousness that is the Harry Potter series.

Criteria for success
  1. Must be a stop motion animation
  2. Must be longer than 30 seconds
  3. Must be shorter than 2 minutes
  4. Must promote Lego®'s new creation-Harry Potter Lego.
  5. The film should highlight the Harry Potter series' creativity, adventurousness and action.
  6. Must be appropriate for school aged students (teenagers- 12-15)
